What You Need - Home Stereo Systems

by Travis Hanson on October 19, 2010

Are you into watching today’s hit movies or can you not get enough sports action? If so, a home theater system is going to elevate your TV experience to a new level.

A home theater system with a DVD player has been quite popular for many years. They include a center channel speaker, a pair of front speakers, surround sound speakers and a sub.

The receiver works as the amplifier. It sends power to all of the speakers. Much like a car amplifier would for car speakers.

A blu-ray home theater system is identical except for the fact that you will be watching blu-ray movies instead of DVD.

Is one better than the other? A DVD compared to blu-ray simply cannot compete with clarity and picture quality. Blu-ray is number one for higher definition.

Most people would say that blu-ray is still too expensive for their wallets. Not just the player, but for the movie discs as well. Places like NetFlix allow you to rent blu-ray movies online for cheap.

A ton of people buy home theater systems and purchase the DVD player separately. This might be because they already own a disc player.

What is the difference when you compare 5.1 and 7.1? If you have a large room, 7.1 channel would probably be best.

The original, 5.1 channel has been around for a very long time. The 7.1 channel system are relatively newer. Both have a center speakers, front speakers, and rear speakers.

A 7.1 channel adds two more channels and allows you to have an additional pair of surround sound speakers. This increases the surround sound effect.

Instead of only having rear speakers placed behind the listener, you will now be able to have rear speakers on the right and left sides and also behind you.

Most people who decide to use a 7.1 channel system do in fact have a larger living room. However, you can still find them in smaller rooms.

For anyone looking for a deal, cheap home theater systems are found in millions of homes. Similarly, cheap home stereo systems can also be used to play many other types of audio signals.

How Movies Can Impressively Develop Your Life

by Jessica J. Janeson on October 16, 2010

Recently, there has been a new movie theater built near my house. They have been working on it for quite a while. And I’ve been looking forward to it’s completion with great expectation. There aren’t many things I enjoy as much as a good movie. Because this new theater is only a five minute walk from my apartment, I can watch movies whenever I want.

Something about being swept away by a the story of a movie is a thrilling yet humbling experience for many. The ancient Greeks new the power of catharsis, and spoke about it at length in many of their discourses. Movies, plays, and stories have been an integral part of human history as long as humans have been around.

Before they could make movies, people would sit around and tell each other stories. Usually each tribe, or village, had it’s resident story teller, who was gifted in the art of taking people into a temporary fantasy land with only his or her words. The power of simple stories to help people overcome the stresses of ordinary life is phenomenal.

And one of the fascinating things when you look at the structure of stories is how similar they are. If you compare all the different stories, movies and books, you’ll find a similar structure not only in the story itself, but in the development of the characters as well. The main character usually starts out as an ordinary guy or girl, then must go on some incredible journey, and develop friends along the way. Together with this new group of friends, the hero, or heroine, must defeat a common enemy.

If you study stories and mythology from around the world, you’ll find this structure fairly consistent with all the stories told by all cultures around the world. Joseph Campbell, in his book “The Hero’s Journey” documented this quite extensively.

Whether you are studying ancient mythology, or simply spending an afternoon at your local movie theater, never underestimate the power of the movie to entertain and give you guidance on some of life’s most difficult challenges.

by Bill Windows on September 3, 2010

For anyone who likes to shop and is creative, there is rarely anything so exciting as shopping for art materials. It is fun. It promotes innovative thinking and it can provide the artist with lots of positive results if it’s done right.

Part of the creative process is attempting new things. Whether that means trying a brand new technique or a brand new product is irrelevant. Being innovative means exploring your own mind. If it takes a new tool to bring about the results of that process, then so be it.

One of the most commonly used items in the world of art is a pencil. Whether you need to sketch, outline, shade or whatever it is you need to do with a pencil, you’ll still require one that fits your needs. Technology has come a long way in developing particular things like pencils that are made to use with water and colored charcoal pencils. Artists might do well to buy a small pack to try out new methods or items rather than a big one so that they are able to assess how nicely the item works for them.

Do not underestimate the time you ought to spend reviewing paper. There are all types and they exist for particular reasons. High quality is important here. In case you do not believe so, do one of your best sketches on a low grade quality of paper and watch it be smeared and ruined. Particular paper is meant for certain things. Numerous suppliers will put the details of what the paper is created for right on the cover of the pad. Review this carefully to assist you make a smart selection!

A good marker can produce a stunning project. A cheap marker can ruin one. You will find a number of things to think about when purchasing markers. What type of a tip do you would like? Are you in need of a flat one, beveled one or rounded one? Markers made with a focus on quality are what you want to look for. If you don’t want to be frustrated by an inferior item, make certain that you select wisely the first time.

The pen really is mightier than the sword. For one thing, it offers a far less violent way of expressing yourself! If you wish to try a new technique with pens or just want to try a new type of pen, you may do well to do some research on methods employed with particular ones or purchase one at a time to test out how they function for you and your needs.

Brushes and paints are meant to work together to form a certain type of texture. You don’t want to utilize an inferior brush with a quality paint. You also don’t want to use the wrong paint with the right brush. There are even specific brushes created to make a particular pattern. Experimenting with different types of brushes is a great method to learn new techniques.

It’s impossible to not have fun when shopping with art supplies, but even an artist needs to believe sensibly in this area. The wrong supplies can ruin a project just as quickly as the right supplies can make it into a masterpiece!

Don’t shy away from an enjoyable experience because of the cost of art supplies online. It is true, most art supplies can be pretty pricey. Do your own research and follow expert guidance for getting artist supplies. This is a good idea to do when you are looking for artist easels, canvas, and other items online.

by Bobby Williams on June 24, 2010

I just wanted to let people know what is now being released to DVD today. If you want to add some variety to your DVD collection or just want to know what’s new, this is for you. There are numerous DVDs mentioned below from blockbusters to TV shows. Look over it and see what you like.

American Dad has finally made it to a season 2. So why not purchase it? It’s from the mind of Seth MacFarlane the one who brought you Family Guy and The Cleveland Show. All are projects that are shown on Fox and for the most part Adult Swim on Cartoon Network. If it was good enough to make it to season 2 it is definitely good enough to own. Also Family Guy is being released in its eighth season. If you are a collector of great animated shows that are filled with social commentary, these are good shows for you. Also both American Dad and Family Guy are unrated, so it is filled with ridiculousness that could not be shown on TV. A must to check out.

Hawthorne the complete first season is also being released. Jada Pinkett Smith made it through her first season with a hard outer shell and soft yet maternal side inertly inside of her. This RN is ready and in store for many more season, hopefully.

As far as movies coming to DVD there is the Book of Eli and Youth in Revolt, both rated R movies. Book of Eli starring Denzel Washington in this “apocalyptic” type world claiming to be on a mission from God. And then there is Youth in Revolt, the traditional tale of guy trying to win the heart of girl, with the twist that he has created an alter ego to be a bad boy.

Okay here’s what’s out this week in DVDs. You can get them all from Amazon just by clicking below. If these seem to be something that is worth adding to your collection, make sure you get them while supplies last.

Their footprint is really only about 10 inches wide by 6 inches deep. They store movies one on top of the other, sometimes separated by tabs or in other cases just on top of each other.
