Social Networking and Religion

by Bobbie McKee on April 30, 2009

Spreading the good news is one of the things that Christians are supposed to share. Aside from inviting people to go to church, they have found a new medium to attract people and that is through social networking.

The idea came about after seeing how successful large social networking sites are operating. In fact, Christianity which is the largest in the world has a lot of them and since everyone believes in it, there won’t be any arguments there.

What makes this special network so different other than believing in the same thing is the fact that it is very easy for members to navigate in. The smaller it is the better so you can just imagine if this was done by a certain sect of Christianity like Catholicism or Protestantism.

The only thing you will see that is very similar to MySpace or Facebook is the features. Members are able to create a profile, add pictures, host a blog, post in forums about your beliefs and other important events. A blog is a great way to get a lengthy discussion when members are allowed to comment on them and you can reply in return.

So you don’t feel lost moving from one of the more popular social networking sites to this one, designers try to replicate everything to facilitate a smooth transition.

Since it is a social network that focuses on religion and family values, parents do not have to worry that much about the safety of their children something that you can’t escape from when you are a member of a large social network. A lot of incidents have already happened and sadly, many of those responsible are able to do it without getting caught.

But will a child be delighted to sign up on a Christian network than MySpace? Many won’t but if parents are able to encourage their children, then this can happen because not only will they be able to maintain contact with their friends but they will also be able to learn about their faith and be close to like minded individuals.

Learning more about religion is not the only thing you can do being a member of a religious social network. You can also conduct business because people are more likely to do business with those that have similar interests.

To help you along, here are a few options.

The first is called Mypraize which is a Christian version of MySpace. After filling up your profile and security settings, you can participate in the moderated forum, talk with people in the chat room, join other events based on your interests and appreciate Christian music.

JCFaith is another. The only difference is that there are games, news and polls that will keep you or your kids entertained. The site is monitored by pay people and pastors.

Dittytalk enables members to customize their profiles and even their webpage. It has a built in messaging program so you can talk with ease.

Lastly is Xianz which people say has the features of all the three previously mentioned combined. You also get to post classified ads and also use the events calendar which will alert you when someone’s birthday or special event is coming up.

Religion has moved to the digital age as it uses this form of social networking. It is truly, a great alternative to MySpace and the rest.

Countries on the helm of solar energy technology

by Bobbie McKee on April 28, 2009

The US is not a leading user of solar energy for a very obvious reason: they can still afford to buy fossil fuels from the international market. In other countries the oil prices are ten times higher in the US and sometimes going for the alternative is a lot better in the long run. Today, more and more countries are looking at solar energy as a primary source of power. There are several countries which can be considered as at the helm of solar energy technology.

The number one use of solar energy is Germany. It captures almost 50% of the world market of photovoltaic cells. Nowhere else in the world can you find the most number of households with solar panels installed on their roof tops. Germany has this Renewable Energies Laws (EEG) which passed in 2000. The law certainly helped Germans feel the need to go renewable.

According to statistics, Germans invested nearly US$5 billion in solar photovoltaic systems and have contributed considerable in the growth of the solar energy market. Although most of the things that we see are solar panels, it doesn’t mean that Germany’s solar industry is not limited to the production of photovoltaic cells for electricity. Other notable usage in Germany includes solar panels for home water heating system. Some news indicate that the German solar hot water market earns fU.S.$1.5 billion per year.

The “solar park” in Arnstein, Bavaria, Germany is one of the biggest photovoltaic plants in the world. It became operational in 2006 and with more than 1,400 PV solar panels, it can produce 12 megawatts of energy.

The next biggest country in terms of usage of solar energy is Spain. The solar energy usage in the country, more specifically the photovoltaic cells usage, has a world market share of 27%. Spain has no sign of slowing down its aggressive and pro-active approach in solar energy. Solar fields are being constructed one of the latest ones is the 60 MW solar field in Olmedilla de Alarcn, near Cuenca.

There are other big solar plants in Spain and these include the solar park 12 miles outside of Salamanca, Salamanca, Spain which have 70,000 PV panels divided into three 36-hectare arrays. The arrays produce an output is 13.8 megawatts and has been powering roughly 5,000 homes since it opened in 2007.

And the rest of the world follow Germany and Spain. Japan and the US still have a market share in the photovoltaic world market. The two countries both have an 8% market share, a far cry from Germany and Spain. Nevertheless, it is quite important that countries continue to improve their status in the world solar market.

Other notable country that uses solar power includes Alegeria, Australia, Italy, and Portugal. Aside from the rich European countries, people in Israel and India are realizing the importance of having alternative sources of energy.

These are the countries on the helm of solar energy technology. But, other countries are slowly catching up. The government of Israel, for example, required all residential buildings to install solar water heating systems in the early 90s. Today, business establishments like hotels and office buildings are trying to use solar power as an alternative from using fossil fuels whose prices continue to soar in the world market.

India is facing a similar energy crisis and they are also looking at solar energy to get them through it.

In general, teenagers and children are prone of having these moles. In time, these moles disappear. If there are any signs of mole changes specifically in size and color, one must see the doctor immediately and let it be diagnosed.

Mole formation It can either be because of melanocytes accumulation or congenital. Moles form at any age type usually during childhood. Mole formation happens within the junction of the dermis and epidermis but is most often formed within the dermis. The appearance will depend on the area where it is formed. Some may be raised and others are flat. Colors vary from dark blue to light brown, still, depending on how deep the mole is formed within the skin level and the concentration or density of the pigmentation causing it.

Exposure to sunlight can increase its formation. Pills can also contribute to the formation. Both pills and exposure can set mole darkening. When one ages, the mole tend disappears and others lighten in color. Other develops growth of hair on the surface which can be very unsightly and the person can result to removal.

Be aware of changes Over the years, moles tend to stay permanently the same when it comes to size, shape and color although others disappear and some grow even more. How Can Your Business Survive an Economic Recession

by Bobbie McKee on April 25, 2009

Your business will surely be affected during an economic recession. If you don’t find ways to make it ride out the storm, chances are you will have to file for bankruptcy and close. Fortunately, there are things you can do to keep it afloat.

Remember that the heart of every business is customer service. If you give special treatment to your customers, these people will leave feeling satisfied and always come back. This is something that your employees must understand because if they don’t, these individuals will be the first one to go since you have to cut back on your expenses.

One way of doing that is to reeducate your employees. You can hold seminars on customer service or simply give them a refresher course of the products and services that you are offering because this will impress the customer the moment they walk in through the door.

You should also motivate them because good morale always achieves positive results. Being the owner of the business, you should lead by example by rendering longer hours at work. If they see you are doing whatever it takes to stay afloat, they will do the same because again, their jobs are on the line and they could be dismissed if things get worse.

Most businesses think that letting people go is always the first option. You don’t have to make the same mistake when these reductions can be made elsewhere as long as quality is not compromised. If you have to buy things, see if you can get longer credit periods or better rates so large expenses can become smaller ones making it easy to manage.

It is always nice to have customers pay in cash but during an economic recession, that is hard for the consumer so if you don’t use a credit card machine yet, now will be a good time to get one. Studies have shown that more people will be able to buy from you using a credit card especially during a time of financial downturn.

The objective of any business is to make money so part of surviving an economic recession will be also to lower your profit margins. By informing your customers of this move, they will be able to buy more at a very reasonable price. You can raise prices again when things get better since such a crisis is only temporary.

Instead of relying on people coming through your door, you can also look at other ways to promote your business. One of the most affordable ones to date is the internet so create your own website. If you can’t do this on your own, hire someone to do it and then make sure that is it both attractive and interactive.

Other businesses are also feeling the crunch and they are also doing their best to stay afloat. Ask around what they are doing and share the same information as well so you will have other ideas and options when the ones you have right now are not working.

We are not yet out of the woods in the recent economic recession. A lot of people are still losing their jobs and their homes, which is why it is important for you to take the steps mentioned rather than doing nothing and hoping for a miracle.

What Qualities to Look for in an Image Consultant

by Bobbie McKee on April 23, 2009

You should never feel ashamed if you know you need help. It just proves you are human. If you need to hire an image consultant, here are some qualities you should be looking for.

The image consultant should be someone who has experience in the particular field of expertise that you require. If you want someone to help you dress better, this individual must be knowledgeable about the fashion industry. What are the in’s and outs of the fashion world? What is hip and what isn’t.

When you interview this person, you can ask how long he or she has been in the business. Who did they work for in the past. They should be able to give a few references you can check out.

The image consultant should also have some form of formal training or certification so you know they are well qualified to take on the task. Most of the time, they will tell you that they were trained by a private company and not a college or university for the simple reason that none of these institutions offer this in their curriculum.

What you can with the name of the company is to check how long this company has been in business and if this person did finish the program.

If you are hiring an image consultant to advise you on your wardrobe but you don’t have the time to go shopping for these clothes yourself, this person can do it for you so not only do you get advice but this person becomes your personal shopper.

But where can you find an image consultant? Since there are a lot of people going into this business, you won’t have a hard time finding them in the newspaper, on billboards, on flyers and even online. The nice thing about finding one online is that you get to see their existing portfolio so you already have an idea who have they worked for in the past.

The only thing you have to do now is set an appointment with them since they don’t accept walk in clients.

When you talk with an image consultant, try to get a feel of the person. Will you be comfortable listening to this person for advice? If the answer is yes, then what you need to improve on may begin. If the answer is no, then you have to go on searching.

Most of the image consultants you find will tell you that they started out giving advice to their friends before deciding to devote more time and energy into this endeavor. One last thing you have to remember is that when you hire someone or he or she has accepted you as a client, this person does not have to be there everyday to give you advice.

After giving you some pointers, the rest is up to you and don’t worry, they will still be around to see how things are going.

After helping one client, the image consultant moves on and helps someone else in a similar situation. They may sometimes be hired to work with a company and not just on an individual basis that is the all in a day’s work for this professional. It is never too late to consult with someone because of all have areas where we can improve on.

Legal Help Info

by Bobbie McKee on April 22, 2009

Anyone seeking for free legal help may be wondering how they can avail of such excellent legal option. Before any thing else, you need to know if you’re entitled for such services.

According to the constitution, any one who has a criminal case and can’t afford to pay for legal help is entitled to get a free attorney or lawyer. For instance, a person who is charged with a certain crime which can be imprisoned can get a free attorney; on the first court appearance, you can already request for your free attorney or lawyer. The court will determine if you’re an indigent. To be classified as an indigent, an individual should have a few assets but no funds for hiring a lawyer. The court will hire a lawyer for you and the fees will be taken out from the county funds. The attorney can be a public or a private defender, depending on the availability.

For civil cases, you will not be entitled to get a lawyer. You can turn to pro bono and legal aid programs offered in your state. Only those whose income is 125% less than the established poverty level can obtain these services. If the income is slightly higher, you may still be considered for the program.

Aside from the income requirements, individuals who are disabled, elderly, and military enlisted, and domestic violence victims are also entitled to the programs. You must also remember that since the programs have limited funds, not everyone is entertained. The programs choose only the top priority cases and turn down other requests or cases.

Poor clients can turn to legal aid services or offices if they need legal help. They have experienced lawyers who can give proper advice in the different kinds of problems encountered by the less fortunate. Some of these offices are funded by the state while others are funded privately. When conducting a legal help search online, it would be best to choose among the programs or services offered within your state.

Some people turn volunteer lawyers who join pro bono programs. Bar associations usually support these programs and you might be able to find one in your state. Look for a pro bono program in your area and seek legal help there especially if you’re a low income earner.

Online legal help resources are now becoming more and more popular. Legal questions can be asked from legal aid attorneys or lawyers. If you’re lucky enough, you might be able to find a hotline who can review letters, documents, and other legal forms; not only that, the hotline can also refer you to free legal help services.

Some cities and communities offer free legal aid to the needy through pro bono programs. Again, the individuals mentioned earlier qualify for the said programs. Try to contact legal referral services. Some individuals obtain legal information online and they handle some common legal issues on their own. You can do that if the legal issues are quite common. For severe legal issues, you must get a lawyer.

Now that you know about the various free legal help resources, its time that you avail of them that is, if you qualify. The federal government helps those with limited resources in dealing with their criminal and civil cases. It’s time that you also help yourself and seek immediate legal help.
