Seattle Seahawks Season Update

by Henry Boland on November 13, 2009

The ‘08 season for the Seattle Seahawks was a lost season if you will - no one could stay healthy and the season was over before it began.

The 09’s season started off well with a win against the St. Louis Rams - who are in the process of rebuilding their team. The Seattle Seahawks finished third in the NFC West last season with a 4-12 record, Seahawks can not go through another season like that.

New head coach Jim Mora should have his team ready week in and week out and the embarrassment of the 08′ season will be forgotten. He’s the type of no non-sense coach and going to make some quick improvements this season.

At the goal line, Hasselbeck was hit hard by 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis, and was forced to leave the game. Some x-rays conducted later revealed that Hasselbeck had suffered a bruise to the ribs, and his status for the team’s week 3 game against the Bears at home is in doubt.

A game against the Bears would surely be difficult to win without the team’s premier quarterback, so they’re hoping he’ll be at their side when it comes down to game time. With Jay Cutler running the show for the Bears, the Seahawks defense will have some issues.

The Seahawks looked great in an easy week 1 victory against the visiting St. Louis Rams, blanking them by a score of 28-0. Let’s keep in mind that the Rams were one of the worst teams in the league last season, so this doesn’t prove much.

It will be difficult for the Seahawks to contend in the NFC West with the improved of the San Francisco 49ers and the defending NFC West champs Arizona Cardinals — even though the Cards have struggles in the beginning of the season.

If the Seahawks can stay healthy for the majority of the season they are an easy 8 win team — which is double the wins from last season. The Seahawks have their coveted “12th man” with the home crowd which makes it difficult for opponents to play them on their own turf.
